You should always refer to the SUSS Student Travel Insurance main page as I will update information there. Some information that could not be found there would be found here.

Insurance coverage

The SUSS Student Travel Insurance is only for SUSS students and not for SUSS staff.

As mentioned in the website, a full (although not comprehensive) list of insurance coverage can be found on the most updated student handbook. You should refer to the main page link for the most updated handbook.

Requesting for a COI

All matriculated SUSS students (undergraduates (UGs), Postgraduates (PGPs & PGRs) & Non-Graduating (NGs)) travelling overseas for activities or purposes approved, endorsed, organised, sponsored or authorised by SUSS will be covered by the SUSS Student Travel Insurance. Such trips shall be referred to as “Authorised SUSS Student Trips” in short for the purpose of this policy. Trips must commence and end in Singapore and shall not exceed consecutive 365 days in all (inclusive of 60 cumulative days of Personal Deviation immediately before and/or after an Authorised SUSS Student Trip).

Staff in-charge of the programme(s) should share the traveler declaration template Excel file with students to fill up.

Changes

From Aug 2023, staff should integrate the Qualtrics form for student travel insurance registration either by providing the Qualtrics form link or QR code in their email to students on the overseas programme.

Please test the link and QR code before sending out to students

At the same time, staff can advise on the amount for students to pay based on their days of travel and the destination of travel. Take note that the insurance premium rates per day is different for Regional and International countries. The list of Regional countries can be found on the SUSS Student Travel Insurance main page.

Staff and students should refer to the latest payment information found on SUSS website.

Summary of required documents to be sent to jychew@suss.edu.sg:

  1. Correctly filled up Traveler Declaration template
  2. Screenshot of transaction made

Please be aware that the COI will be issued after 15 to 21 working days upon the student’s travel declaration, which is also found on the website. Please make necessary arrangements for receiving the COI on time.

Currently, it has been arranged to collate requests of COIs in batches to be processed.

Standard password for retrieving COI documents: SSC_COI_Requests!

Travel start date

The travel start date that the students should indicate refers to the date of departure. For example, if the check in date and time is 10 Oct 2023 23:00, the departure time is 11 Oct 2023 00:30, the start date should be indicated as 10 Oct 2023.

Destination country of travel

Student should only indicate the destination country of travel for flight transfers.

Requesting for payment by student

Students should make payment for the table rates stated on the website and based on the destination country of travel and the total number of days of travel.

Updating the COI monthly listing

Requestors of COI should include the entries in the Monthly Traveller Declaration form currently found in the SSC and CIEL shared drive (X:\Finance\Student Travel Insurance\Travel Insurance Admin\Student Trip Declaration) before the end each month. COIs requested from the insurance broker of the month should be included in the Monthly Traveller Declaration form of the same month. For COIs to be valid, the information must be included in the monthly listing.

Jian Yue will consolidate and submit the monthly forms to the insurance broker in the first or second week of the following month.
